about

Originally released on my Wire Bridge cassette label in 1997 and then re-issued alongside 'And Where The Coloured Planes Are Rafts' as a single CD on Last Visible Dog in 2005.
Sirens was recorded in Clyde in Central Otago, New Zealand onto a crappy tascam 4 track- except for track 6 which was recorded in Christchurch.
I was working on an orchard, living in an old cobb cottage. Most of the tracks were recorded on rainy days when we weren't able to work.
I had a very strong romantic attachment to the landscape of Central Otago having grown up there. This feeling for place had a strong influence on the songs.
