about

Unreleased tracks from 1993.
These tracks were recorded whilst I was living at 'The Happy House', a somewhat dysfunctional hippy almost-commune in St Albans, Christchurch. The days there generally involved a round of yoga and a few pipes of pot and a super strong coffee for breakfast followed by a stint of gardening. More pot then either some kind of art, writing or music. A bikeride around the city or the hills. A trip into town in the evenings -stoned of course- to see a gig at 'The Dux' or at 'Warner's. This would often be followed by midnight tree climbing in the Botanic Gardens.

There were at least 3 pianos in the main house, none of them really in tune, and I had recently found an old violin in a second hand shop. I have a few C90s full of histrionic guitar noise from around this time but I really liked this one. Recordings were made by playing back one recording on one ghetto blaster while recording and playing along onto another.

Its possible, likely even, that the synth on track 3 was played by my friend Mark Rosebaum who was a frequent visitor.
