We spent a week in the small mountain valley village of Ollantaytambo, going on daywalks exploring the many local ancient Incan ruins as an alternative to visiting the iconic Machu Picchu.
Whilst there we experienced the opening festival for the new 'cathedral'. This was an all day party with many parades and crates of beer stacked up on the cathedral steps. Local bands played dance music all night and everybody was there dancing. Toddlers through to grandparents. Eventually we ourselves reached saturation point and walked up the valley back to our hotel. Once there I climbed up onto the roof and recorded the sound of a distant band reverberating off the valleys cliffs.
