The journey across the Salar de Uyuni, a vast salt plain 4300m above sea level in the mountains of Bolivia, is quite rightly one of the major tourist attractions of Sth America. The plains themselves, and the surrounding landscape, are truly extraordinary with bright red mountains, emerald green lakes and strange wildlife.
As a result however one is constantly surrounded by other tourists and any moments of peaceful contemplation of the vista are likely to be broken at any moment by the arrival of yet another 4WD loaded to the gunwales with camping equipment and fellow goggle eyed travelers.
I love the broken radio on this track, anywhere else and it would have been turned off but on this trip it was left on full volume despite its hiccups.
